LION, THE KING OF SAVANNAH GRASS LAND

  Crowned  by the manes around its neck lion rules the African savannah with an iron fist. The lion is at the top of the food chain therefor it doesn't have a predator unless at its most vulnerable moments. Lions are born after gestation period of 110 days, the litters range from 1 to 4 cubs which are blind at birth and remain so for about one week. They are born in a hidden den away from the rest of the pride to ensure their safety, during this period until they reach 8 weeks the mother solely provide, care and protect them against  predators . The lioness always move the cubs from one location to another to avoid detection. At around 8 weeks the cubs are introduced to the pride, this is a very crucial step for socialization and acceptance, from this moment henceforth the cubs becomes part of the pride and start to learn how to behave within the pride structure which will determine their role when they eventually become adults. HYENA THE CLEANER OF THE ECOSYSTEM

 Hyena the native to Africa savannah are usually looked down upon in the cat family, the are seen as scavengers but are actually formidable hunters. They are social animals as they live in groups called clans and are also territorial. Their laughter is a sophisticated way of communication with their clan members, by feeding on carcass they help in cleaning up the ecosystem, there by preventing the spread of diseases and bring about balance. Hyena give birth to 1-3 cubs, are extremely good mothers with a gestation period of 98-110 days, the cubs are born with their eyes open contrary to other animal species and they suckle 12-18 months. Hyena are extremely intelligent, they are able to determine the number of hyena in the rival clan before making a move or deciding to join them. The female are large than male due to high testosterones in female and there genitalia resembles that of males making people think that they are hermaphrodites.
